1. MAKING RADHA-KRISHNA MADHUBANI STYLE

This video shortly shows how I paint Radha-Krishna - one of my first Madhubani inspired paintings. I use poster colors over there. It is not really an educational video, rather - an artistic one.

2. MAKING MADHUBANI WITH OIL ON CANVAS

In this one I was trying to express really that something bothered me in life at that time - the routine. It depicts sun/moon, duality, work and labor - the circle of life that never stops. It was enormously hard to paint such small figures with the oil paint. Next time I would use only large figures when using oil and canvas.

3. THE VIDEO OF OUR HOUSE BACK WALL PAINTED IN MADHUBANI WITH ACRYLIC

I spent two weeks painting the outside wall and although right now (after 1.5 years) some colors have almost absolutely faded, I really pretended that those paintings were "for the good luck to come". On the left side of the wall there are two paintings of imaginative sun and moon deity and on the right - the daily life of a human being.

4. MADHUBANI KE BARE MEN (About Madhubani in Hindi)

In this video I just felt like speaking about Madhubani in Hindi. I wanted to see if I can explain what I think about Madhubani in Hindi and it's more dedicated for the Hindi speaking audience who are interested in Madhubani.

5. MY ALL MADHUBANI PAINTING PREVIEW 1

I set all my paintings on the floor in our room and just reviewed them. I wanted to see if I am making any progress since I started taking interest in it. It is a pretty random video but I tried to speak something that I thought may have some value to others, such as which paper to use.

6. MY ALL MADHUBANI PAINTING PREVIEW 2

The second part of the previous video. Talking more about the differences of an original Madhubani painting and the one that I make. Showing how I learn Madhubani from Google images.

7. A WEST-BENGAL ARTIST TALKING ABOUT HOW TO MAKE NATURAL DYE (Hindi)

We went to Gandhi Shilp Mela in Noida Stadium this weekend (17 March 2013). We met a patachitra artist from West Bengal who started explaining how to make natural dyes. I just put my camera on.

8. COLORING IN RADHA-KRISHNA PAINTING

A fragment of Radha-Krishna painting for our maid. I tried to make it extremely traditional. I'll upload a longer video of this.

9. MAKING A MODERN PAINTING INSPIRED BY INDIAN FOLK ARTS

I don't really remember what I wanted to "check out" but I wanted to make a small fast modern cartoon style painting also related to Indian culture and that was "a younger person touching the feet of an older person".

10. MAKING A MADHUBANI PAINTING - PART 1 (Drawing)

This is a real time drawing for a Madhubani painting. I used black marker on a handmade paper. The design is learnt from someone but improvised.

11. MAKING A MADHUBANI PAINTING - PART 2 (Filling in Details)

The second stage would be filling in details and lines. I think the more the lines, the better it looks.

12. MAKING A MADHUBANI PAINTING - PART 3 (Coloring with Natural Dye)

This is painting with "dye made at home". It is not a "proper" way to make dye. I will write a separate post on "how to make a proper dye".

13. MADHUBANI STYLE TAROT CARDS

This video quickly introduces my Madhubani style tarot cards. I personally like the cards and am printing them out. In this video I want to know if anyone else is interested in them, because I might sell them (never done that, but I'd try). This is my fast sketchy experimental project though and I have already started making two more decks. And yes, your critique is very important for me!

Hey Shivani, thanks for your comments! I use a thin permanent marker that is meant for writing on CD's. I do not do so because it's perfect for me. Actually it produces pretty thick lines. Madhubani artists use a bamboo twig and because it's a hard wood, the lines come out really as thin as a thread. I think it's possible to make such lines with a nib and ink. The problem is, I cannot find a good artist shop in where I live in Noida, UP. So I cannot use a nib. I think a nib and a waterproof black ink would be perfect for getting thin lines.

Hello, can you please tell me what's the base used for madhubani paintings, apart from handmade paper, can we use canvas?? Is canvas available in a big cloth form?

@ Color attractions Hello! You can use any base for Madhubani painting: a wall, paper, canvas, cloth, wood, glass.
I usually buy ready made stretched canvas but there is one available in cloth form too (I've never bought it and I don't even know how to stretch/prepare canvas for painting). Madhubani can be painted straight on a sari or any other cloth with fabric paint. When I find out more about where to buy loose canvas, I'll post it.

Hi there, love your work. I read that you had painted your house back wall in acrylic, I hope to do the same for my home ( except it's indoors). Please advise me - in the event I make coloring mistakes i.e the color runs or wrong color is painted on, how can I rectify? What's the step-by step process of painting- do I paint the background first or draw the outline and color the painting and lastly color the background( currently the said wall is all white). do I need to paint anything at all (like varnish, for wood) on the completed work?
